The leadership role of all NHS Chairs & CEOs in tackling Health Inequalities.

Event details

21st November 2022, 10:30am to 3:00pm

Address

Hilton Manchester Deansgate 303 Deansgate Manchester M3 4LQ

A few years ago, a small number of NHS Ethnic Minority Chairs and Chief Executives came together informally to talk about the part we could play in tackling health inequalities.

Over the years we have grown in number as a group and our combined leadership now spans Integrated Care Boards as well as a variety of NHS Provider organisations. Right now, we see many of the communities that we both love and serve caught in the grip of unprecedented cost of living rises. At the same time, we are witnessing life expectancy deteriorate for the first time in a generation.

It would be so easy to spend time and energy looking for someone to blame for this reality, but we believe that this is the time to lead. However, talking about the need for leadership in these challenging times, and actually providing leadership are not necessarily the same thing. This is why we would like to invite you as a member of the wider NHS Chair and Chief Executive community in England to join us in person at Hilton Hotel in Manchester on 21 November 2022, to share ideas and talk through how we lead and create a tailwind towards achieving greater health equity for the people we serve.

See full flyer/agenda and register for the event.

Whether it be the coastal towns of Dorset or our urban cities of London, Birmingham, Leeds, or Manchester - we owe it to our communities to bring our collective leadership skills together to see what we can learn from each other and further develop our ability to lead.

To aid and prompt us in our discussion Gordon Messenger has kindly agreed to share his perspective on leadership and we have a range of other Chair and Chief Executive speakers who, for the four hours that we will be together, will generate ideas and provide challenge.

So how about leaving MS Teams and Zoom behind for a day and join us in person for 10.30 - 15.00 in Manchester on 21st November 2022.

Yes, we are all busy and will have a million reasons to be doing something else but if we can’t prioritise coming together to lead on tackling health inequalities then what are we really here for?
