"All About Home First Salford" Awareness Talk – 20 December 2022

29 November 2022

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is inviting colleagues, patients, the public and its Foundation Trust members to attend a free Home First Salford Awareness Event on Tuesday 20th December, 2.30 – 3.30 pm, in the Humphrey Booth Lecture Theatre, Mayo Building, Salford Royal Hospital.

Home First improves people’s experience of hospital discharge and hospital stay and will prevent People from remaining in hospital after they have no further acute medical need to be there, and as such are spending unnecessary nights away from home.

Getting you home after your hospital stay is the best place to be, with:

  • Less risk of infection or picking up other illnesses
  • Improved rest and sleep with fewer distractions
  • Access to home comforts like your television and your own bed
  • Helps to regain confidence, independence and mobility
  • Better mental wellbeing

There is an increased risk of harm to people who remain in hospital (increased risk of nosocomial infection, increased frailty / deterioration), as well as those awaiting a bed, including Emergency and elective admissions).

There will be talks from Jo Richardson Improvement Manager (Therapies), Emergency Care Improvement Support Team and other lead members of the Home First Team as well as stalls from the Health Improvement Team, Housing Team, Age UK and Community Led Support.

The talk will give delegates the opportunity to find out more about Home First and how Salford Care Organisation is helping to support and improve the hospital discharge experience people of Salford.

To book your place please contact the Membership Team on 01706 517302 or email membership@nca.nhs.uk.
