Maternity - Community Midwifery Services - Royal Oldham

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

The experienced team at The Royal Oldham Hospital aims to provide you with individualised, patient-centred care, and to support you and your family to feel confident and relaxed throughout your pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey.

Our maternity services includes a team of compassionate midwives, consultants, doctors, specialist midwives and nurses, midwifery support workers, healthcare assistants, clerical officers and other members of support staff who all work together to ensure you are provided with the highest level of care. 


To inform us of your pregnancy please ring your local maternity office, either at The Royal Oldham or Rochdale Infirmary, where you will be provided with some early pregnancy information and screening tests offered for you and your baby. Ideally, we would like to see you for your booking appointment around 8-10 weeks and this will be available to your within your local community children centre or at the Antenatal Clinic.

Your antenatal care

During your pregnancy you will be offered regular appointments with a midwife based in your local community children centre or obstetrician based in Antenatal Clinic. They check that you and your baby are well, give you support and information about your pregnancy and birth to help you make informed choices.

Our philosophy of care at The Royal Oldham demonstrates a patient-centred maternity service which will support and guide you and your family. Our community services strive to promote normality and choice in pregnancy, birth and early parenthood whilst maximising continuity of carer.
