Governor Elections

The Governor Election Nomination Process for 2024 has now completed. The results of the elections to the Council of Governors for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust are available here; the elected unopposed report is here.

The 2024 Election results were formally outlined as part of the Annual Members Meeting held on Tuesday 19 November 2024. Successful candidates formally started in office on the day following the Annual Members Meeting.

Governors form an integral part of the governance structure that exists in all NHS Foundation Trusts.

As a Governor, you will play an important role by engaging with the communities we serve to make sure that health and social care services continue to improve for your family, friends and neighbours and bring about real change. You will act as the eyes and ears of our membership (both staff and public) and the public at large with regards to the quality of services we provide. Further information regarding the role of a Governor can be found on the Council of Governors' webpage.

To carry out this role effectively, Governors will be required to contribute at least 4 hour per month to undertake their Governor duties. On occasion, this time commitment might be increased to undertake specific governor duties. There are opportunities for Governors to invest as much time as they have available into the role, over and above the minimum 4 hours required.

There will be at least four Council of Governors' meetings per year, each meeting lasts approximately 2.5 hours. Every effort is made to set meeting dates and times to accommodate the availability of the Governors. These meetings are usually in person and take place at one of the Trust's hospital sites. Governors are required to attend the Council of Governors meetings and actively support the work of the Council of Governors', specifically, the delivery of the Membership and Public Engagement Strategy and Plan.

The elections have now closed, the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust Governors information can be located here.
