The Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale Lymphoedema Service aims to treat and support patients who have primary or secondary Lymphoedema, lipoedema and chronic oedema that live in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale or have a GP in the borough.
The swelling must have been present for at least three months.
We provide a range of treatments, including diagnosis and treatment, education and support and the promotion of self-management and prevention.
The care is delivered in both clinic settings and patients’ homes depending upon clinical need and presentation. Self-care is promoted and therefore patients are encouraged to attend clinics.
The first appointment may take up to ninety minutes and you will be seen by one of the Lymphoedema Practitioners. The assessment will take place in a private room and all information is confidential and only shared with other health care professionals with your permission.
An examination of the swollen area is necessary so it is better to dress in clothing and footwear that is easily removed. As each case of lymphoedema/lipodema is individual the lymphoedema practitioner will assess you accordingly.
