Staff Networks

Dedicated staff networks across the NCA provide an incredibly powerful way to engage people in equality, diversity and inclusion.

They give NCA staff a safe space to share lived experiences and have a voice. The networks are open to all staff members who self-identify within the three underserved groups: ethnic minorities, disabled and LGBTQ+.

By tapping into the ideas, passion and knowledge of our staff, these networks help to:

  • create and support positive change
  • provide a trusted space for discussing issues of concern
  • establish a solid foundation to shape the culture and behaviours of our working environment

Staff networks hold enormous potential to influence the levels of staff engagement and productivity in the workplace. When operating efficiently, they tackle the under-use of skills and encourage diverse talent, enabling employees from underserved communities to feel accepted.

A critical friend to NCA Leadership, staff networks improve the working lives of its LGBT, ethnic minority and disabled staff.

They also support the Group in reviewing equality-focused reports/standards such as the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES), Sexual Orientation Monitoring Standard (SOM) and Accessible Information Standard (AIS).

The EDI Function works to raise the profile of its staff networks across the NCA, as a route to gain information and support in the workplace.

2020 saw the production and promotion of a short film to highlight their role and value to the organisation. Featuring Staff Network members, the promo includes hard-hitting statements to share experiences in the workplace. It’s now a key part of the Corporate Induction agenda, where it’s shown to all new starters at the NCA.
