Chief Executive Officer Dr Owen Williams to leave the Northern Care Alliance

17 April 2026

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) Chief Executive Officer Dr Owen Williams has announced he will be leaving the Trust in September.

Owen joined the NCA in November, 2021. Since then, Owen has played a key role in strengthening clinical leadership, service planning and delivery. He has led significant programmes of improvement and transformation, helped stabilise the Trust’s financial position and put in place clear strategies and ways of working to support better care for patients and a more sustainable future for the organisation.

Owen also introduced the NCA’s organisational values – Care, Appreciate and Inspire – which have become an important part of how colleagues work together across the Trust. He has consistently sought to lead in line with these values.

NCA Chair Sheena McDonnell said: “Being visible, accessible and listening to colleagues and patients has always been important to Owen. He has spent a great deal of time across our hospitals and community services, in corridors and on wards, talking with colleagues, patients and visitors and taking the time to listen to their experiences. His commitment to improvement is already making a positive difference for patients and services.

“I would like to thank Owen for the contribution he has made to the NCA and for the care, commitment and leadership he has shown during his time as Chief Executive Officer.”

Further details on Owen’s replacement will be shared in the coming weeks.
