Julie Cooper, an integrated neighbourhood lead in Prestwich has been awarded the prestigious title of Queen’s Nurse (QN), following 23 years of service in the community.
The honour recognises nurses who are committed to high standards of patient care, learning and leadership over a sustained period.
Julie started her nursing training in Bury in 1983 and following qualification, she worked in London for two years before leaving the NHS.
In 2000 she returned to the NHS working as a district nurse and now is responsible for managing health, social care, and community specialist palliative care teams in Bury.
Julie who is planning to retire in January 2024 said: “I look back with many, many happy memories. I have seen community nursing change over the last 23 years and have been proud to be a district nurse.
“I will miss the people I work with at the Trust, especially my adult social care and primary care network colleagues. I have two grandchildren and a new grandchild due in February. I look forward to spending time with my husband and family and enjoying more holidays.”
