The Northern Care Alliance (NCA) offers placements for pre-registration healthcare students who want to learn from our expert team.
We work closely with our local universities to make sure every student gets the most out of their time with us.
Join us at one of our hospitals and you’ll have a dedicated practice education facilitator who’ll help support you and your manager during your placement.
Your friendly facilitator will provide a link between clinical staff and your university to ensure full integration of theory and practice.
This Charter demonstrates the NCA’s commitment to provide a safe and high-quality learning environment to all learners, preparing them for their future roles working collaboratively in multi-professional teams.
If you’re looking for a placement or further information about certain programmes, please click on the appropriate section below.
Please note we’re currently not accepting medical student electives at this time. The link below only relates to allied health professionals (AHP), nursing and midwifery, or radiology placements.
If you’re a current student on an NMC/HCPC-approved programme based within the UK and looking for a placement experience, we do consider elective requests. Please complete the online application below and a member of our team will get back to you.
If you’re based outside the UK, we’re unfortunately unable to consider your request at this time. Placements can only be requested via ERASMUS and in conjunction with an appropriate university.
In collaboration with our local universities, The Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust provides placements for:
- pre-registration/undergraduate nursing
- scientific professional students
These are available across:hospital settings in Oldham, Bury and Rochdale
- community settings in Oldham, Bury, Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale
We’re not able to offer any mental health, social work or learning disability placements.
Regretfully, because of the current COVID-19 situation, the NCA has decided to suspend our work experience programme for the foreseeable future.
We’re sure you’ll understand how this puts the safety of you, our patients, staff and the wider public first while removing any non-essential additional pressure on our team at this challenging time.
If you’ve recently emailed us with a request for work experience or you’ve returned an application form for processing, we’re unfortunately unable to progress your request at this time or respond to your email.
Please be assured we’ll be reviewing this position in the coming months and, based on advice, will reopen our programme as soon as it’s safe to do so.
