Rheumatology at Salford has been awarded a Gold Changemaker Award by the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS) for their outstanding contribution to improving care for people living with axial spondyloarthritis (axial SpA).
Led by Will Gregory, clinical lead and consultant physiotherapist, his dedication to early diagnosis and personalised care has made a significant difference to patients, earning him national recognition. The award was presented at a special reception held at the Houses of Parliament, celebrating healthcare professionals who are transforming care for people living with axial SpA.
Axial SpA is a long-term inflammatory condition that primarily affects the spine and can be difficult to diagnose. Early diagnosis and treatment are key to managing symptoms and preventing long-term damage.
Reflecting on the award, Will said: “It was such an honour to be recognised for the work that we do. Axial SpA can be a challenging condition to diagnose. Using a Quality Improvement methodology, we have been able to improve our services. We now provide quicker diagnosis and can create tailored care management plans from the very beginning of a patient’s journey.”
Congratulations to Will and the rheumatology team for going the extra mile — and going for gold in helping patients live well with axial SpA.
