Kids learn for free at The Royal Oldham

31 July 2023

Young patients on the Children’s ward at The Royal Oldham hospital can now continue with their learning so that they do not fall behind with their education thanks to an online learning platform.

Ricky Barber, Children's Ward manager said: “We are really excited about launching these short courses for kids on the ward.  As well as entertaining them, they get to learn something new. The courses can be accessed via a tablet, and they even get a certificate once they have passed.  Our poorly children have really enjoyed it and it has helped to perk them up.”

The hospital has partnered with Centre of Excellence to offer kids free courses on topics such as wellbeing, science, languages, nutrition, literacy, numeracy, history and geography.

Sara Jones, CEO Centre of Excellence added: “We’re really happy to be teaming up with The Royal Oldham hospital to help support children.Centre of Excellence set itself a huge task this year to positively impact one billion people, and by partnering with The Royal Oldham hospital, we’re able to make a huge difference.

“If we can help just one child achieve something they never thought was possible, or help one kid push through a barrier at school, then we’ll be absolutely over the moon.”
