Local hospital Trust appoints new Governors

9 February 2022

Nineteen new Governors have been appointed at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA), which runs hospitals and community services in Salford, Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.

Elections took place in winter to appoint new public and staff Governors in each locality, and some new local authority and university Governors have also been appointed.

Prof Michael Luger, Chairman of the NCA, said:

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to all the new Governors. I look forward to working closely with them as we enter an exciting new era for the Trust. We have lots of positive developments on the horizon that will benefit patients, local communities and our staff.”

The Council of Governors plays an important role in the governance of the Trust and is responsible for representing the interests of members and the public as a whole.

Governors contribute to future plans, hold non-executive directors to account for the performance of the board of directors, and appoint the Chairman and Non-Executive Directors.

Public Governors must be registered members of the Trust and must also live in the area they represent.
