Major rail replacement work on Eccles New Road

15 June 2023

From Saturday 15 July to Thursday 21 September, major rail replacement work is planned to take place on the Eccles Metrolink line along Eccles New Road between the Ladywell and Weaste Metrolink stops.

Partial, temporary lane closures and traffic management will be required along the highway on Eccles New Road during this time, which has been arranged and agreed with Salford City Council.

Signed diversions will be in place for road users and lane closures are planned to be phased to mitigate the impact. Pedestrian access will be maintained throughout.

In addition to the works, from Saturday 15 July to Thursday 21 September there will be no tram service between Eccles tram stop and Weaste tram stop.

Ashton line services will continue- to operate via Manchester city centre through to Weaste during this time and both the MediaCity and Trafford Park lines will not be affected.

Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) and KeolisAmey Metrolink (KAM) will mitigate Metrolink service disruption as much as possible and a Metrolink replacement bus service will operate between Eccles and Weaste tram stops.
