Congratulations to the NCA Procurement Team who have been named Team of the Year at the highly prestigious Health Care Supply Association (HCSA) Awards 2021.
The HCSA promotes the work of procurement and supply chain staff and the Northern Care Alliance’s (NCA) procurement team impressed the judges, who described the team as being “without doubt an impressive and inspiring team.”
The procurement team beat off some stiff competition to scoop the award. They were praised for the critical role they’ve played during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that health and social care teams across the Northern Care Alliance NHS Trust receive the supplies they need to continue providing great care to patients.
The team were also praised for their collaborative working with other NCA and Greater Manchester teams and the transformation the team has undergone over the past two years; setting up new processes and systems that have not only created value, but clear benefits and savings for the Trust.
Stephen Booth, Information and Communication Manager for the NCA Procurement Team, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to win this award. The HCSA Awards showcase best practice and achievement in procurement management and governance, so to be recognised in this way really is a great achievement. We’ve worked very hard during the pandemic to ensure that all our teams have the supplies they need, and this award makes it all worthwhile.”
Joe Lever, Group Procurement Director and Joint GM Procurement Lead, said: “We are delighted to have won what we consider to be the most prestigious award in our field. The award is thoroughly well-deserved. Our procurement and supply chain teams have played a critical role during the pandemic, ensuring that our teams have vital supplies including personal protective equipment (PPE) and medical equipment.
“In addition to managing the Trust’s response to COVID, the procurement team have also assisted with setting up the Greater Manchester Mass Vaccination Centre, mainly as a result of Salford Royal’s position as the lead provider. This involved working at speed to set up and track orders, and ensure that all elements were delivered on time. The team have achieved all this whilst transforming internal systems and processes. They should be very proud of everything they’ve achieved.”
