Professor Dame Robina Shah named Honorary Fellow

Professor Dame Robina Shah, deputy chairman at the NCA has been announced as one of the six new honorary fellows by the Royal Society of Medicine (RSM), marking a significant recognition of her contributions to the healthcare sector. 

The prestigious honorary fellowships recognise individuals who have made exceptional contributions throughout their careers in healthcare. 

With over 25 years of dedication to the NHS, medical education, neurodiversity and the broader healthcare sector, Robina emphasised the collaborative efforts of those who have supported her journey. 

Robina said: "This recognition not only highlights my personal contributions but also the invaluable support and collaboration of colleagues, volunteers, students, patient partners and family members who have supported my journey. Together, we have navigated challenges and celebrated milestones, always to advance patient care and healthcare education. This honour is a reflection of our shared commitment and the collective impact we have made, driven by a common purpose to validate the lived experience of care through the lens of patients, carers and the community we serve.” 

Robina’s appointment as Dame Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in the 2023 New Year’s Honours list further underscores her exemplary service to patient care.
