Salford Care Organisation, part of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce that our Home First team have been shortlisted for the HSJ Awards taking place 16 November 2023 in London.
The shortlisting for “Acute Sector Innovation of the Year”, recognises an outstanding contribution to healthcare and the power of thinking differently by accelerating innovation to deliver patient care despite system challenges.
A ‘record-breaking’ 1456 entries have been received for this year’s Awards, with 223 projects and individuals reaching the final shortlist, making it the biggest awards programme in the award’s 43-year history.
The innovative Home First project, aimed at getting people home from hospital as quickly and as safely as possible, is helping to reshape conversations with people during their hospital stay to find out what is important to them. As a result, there are emerging signs of positive impacts on key outcomes such as length of stay in hospital and timely discharges home.
Dr Tara Kearney, Director of Integration and Transformation at Salford Care organisation and Senior Reporting Officer for the Home First Programme said of the team’s nomination,
“This really is such exciting news! Being shortlisted for the “Acute Sector Innovation of the Year” in the HSJ Awards 2023 will be a huge boost for our dedicated and hard-working Home First team, especially in a year when the competition was so tough with an unprecedented volume of entries from so many other equally deserving Trusts and individuals.
“Whatever the result ‘on the night’, we already feel like winners for getting this far and are so proud to have the opportunity to share our success with colleagues from across the entire sector, as well as showcasing everything we’ve learnt through implementing our project.”
The selected winners will be announced during the awards ceremony at Evolution London on November 16th, 2023.
