Community Diagnostic Centre - Oldham Community

Our new £10m Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) in Oldham opened to patients in December 2022.  It provides a wide range of diagnostic imaging technology, heart and lung tests in addition to blood tests.

It is estimated that more than 30,000 patients a year use the facility in Oldham that is located at Salmon Fields in Royton. Patients access the service via referral from their GP or hospital care team.

The CDC offers additional capacity to testing that is delivered at the hospital site. Our aim is to cut waiting times for tests and provide and earlier diagnosis of disease with easier access to testing within a community setting.

A number of testing services will be available at the Oldham CDC including MRI, PET-CT, CT X-ray, ultrasound, heart and lung function tests and sleep studies.  Phase 2 of the site will see the opening of a 3 room Endoscopy Unit to complement the testing in the main building.

X-Ray

The service is available to all GP ambulant patients.

This facility is not suitable for patients where there is a possibility of a fracture. Patients requiring a hoist, ambulance transport patients are directed to the main X-Ray department at The Royal Oldham Hospital.

We recognise that having any type of clinical test can be worrying. The aim of the CDC is to provide a quick and efficient service.

The facility is a testing service so you will in many cases have your test and then leave. For those who are receiving more than one test on the same day, we have designed the Centre to be as comfortable as possible with refreshments facilities available.

Patients are welcome for a walk in appointment once they have been referred by their GP or clinician.

Referrals can be made via T-Quest (electronic referral system already used un GP surgeries) or paper referrals if electronic ordering is unavailable.

Parking

Car parking is free and available on site but is limited. Please arrive no more than 15 minutes before your appointment and wait in your vehicle until 5 minutes before presenting to reception. Electric Vehicle pod points are available on site for a monetary charge and patients will be required to register with the provider before use.

The postcode of the site is OL2 6JG
