The Medical High Care unit (MHCU)/H1 ward is located in the first floor of the Hope Building, opposite H2 ward.
It’s 8 bedded unit that provides Level 2 care to acutely unwell medical patients with a complex clinical history.
MHCU is staffed with skilled clinicians and nurses who are trained to provide the required care in respiratory support (High Flow, CPAP, BiPAP) as well as cardiovascular monitoring and haemodialysis for unwell renal patients who cannot otherwise receive dialysis on the H3/renal ward.
It also provides care for medical patients with tracheostomy who otherwise cannot be cared for anywhere else in the organisation other than critical care.
