We advise that you ring the ward after 10am where possible, as the nursing staff will be completing medication rounds, personal cares and ensuring patients have had their breakfast.

Recommendations:

We recommend that as a relative you bring in some personal clothes such as:

  • Pyjamas
  • Underwear
  • Safe footwear
  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Shower gel/soap

We do advise on the ward that any personal property such as mobile phones, tablets, laptops etc are brought in at your own risk.

Due to the nature of the ward, we do not allow any children under the age of 16. As advised above, we have a day room to support with this if required.

We are unable to heat up any food on the ward as we have no facilities for this.

Infection Control

You will be asked to wash your hands on entry to the ward. Please do not be offended if this is challenged by our ward staff; we are working hard to protect our patients from the risk of infections.

Due to infection control precautions the ward is not able to have balloons, fans or flowers on the ward at the bedside. We also advise that any photographs, pictures or letters are laminated so that they can be kept clean to prevent any infections.

Patient Experience

We have a Friends and Family survey which collects feedback about your experience with us on the unit. This is usually via a text message following your discharge. We would be grateful if you can complete this to support us to develop our services and strive to give the best patient centred care.

We are also happy to take any verbal feedback.
