Neurology - Welcome to the Neurology Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU)

The Neurology Ambulatory Care Unit (NACU) provides urgent neurology care using a virtual ward model for patients across Greater Manchester. The unit supports early discharge from the Acute Neurology Unit (ANU) and helps prevent unnecessary hospital stays by offering investigations and treatments on an outpatient basis.

NACU is a mixed‑sex bay and operates 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday.

Why you are here

If you have been asked to attend NACU, you will already have been informed about the investigations or treatments planned for your visit. These may include:

  • Blood tests
  • IV medication
  • Imaging
  • Physical or neurological assessments

Our team will guide you through each step during your time with us.

Visiting the Unit

You are welcome to bring one relative or friend with you due to limited space.

We kindly ask that visitors use the chairs provided and do not sit on the beds.

We offer hot drinks and snacks throughout the day. There are also shops and a canteen within the main hospital grounds.

Ward leadership

Ward Manager: Kaylee Jones

An experienced senior team is also available to support you if the manager is not on the unit.
