Trust recognised for four prestigious healthcare awards

The Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) has been shortlisted for four prestigious Health Service Journal (HSJ) Awards 2025, recognising outstanding achievements across innovation, digital transformation, efficiency, and health equity.  

From more than 1,250 entries across the health sector, only 245 projects and individuals made it through to the final shortlist. 

NCA shortlisted nominations include: 

  • Acute Sector Innovation of the Year category: Salford Care Organisation for its pioneering work in the neurology and neurological intensive care unit. 
  • Digitising Patient Care and Driving Efficiency Through Technology category: For its digital remote surveillance of arteriovenous access in haemodialysis patients, a project that improves monitoring and outcomes for patients receiving dialysis.  
  • Reducing Inequalities and Improving Outcomes for Children and Young People category: A collaborative initiative between NCA, Public Health and Adult Care, and Bury Council aimed at supporting children with special educational needs and disabilities. 

Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony that is being held in November 2025.  A huge congratulations to all teams on this outstanding achievement! 

About Salford Royal neurology and neurological intensive care unit  

Have been shortlisted in the Acute Sector Innovation of the Year category. The team has been recognised for their use of reduced array electroencephalogram (EEG) and instant messaging in the treatment of seizures within the neurological intensive care unit. This innovative approach combines streamlined EEG technology with real-time communication to enhance epilepsy care in critical settings. 

Rajiv Mohanraj, consultant neurologist, said: "This recognition reflects the dedication of our multidisciplinary team to deliver smarter, faster care for patients experiencing seizures in the intensive care unit. We are proud to be driving innovation that makes a real difference at the bedside."
