Almost all care home residents living across the city of Salford have received their COVID vaccines, thanks to the work of a dedicated team of doctors and nurses.

Thanks to the team at Salford Care Homes Medical Practice, 97% of permanent care home residents have now had their first and second dose and their booster of the COVID vaccine

Salford Care Homes Medical Practice looks after the majority of care home residents across the city.

The clinical team at the practice are employed by Salford Royal and includes GPs, Consultant Nurse Practitioners, Dementia Specialist Nurse, Practice Nurse and a medicines management team.

Louise Smith, Practice Manager at the Care Homes Medical Practice, said: “The vaccination programme has been a true team effort. It has been a challenging time for us all but our priority has always been the safety of our most vulnerable residents.”

The COVID vaccine continues to be offered to any unvaccinated residents on admission to care homes and is now an ongoing programme with the team visiting care homes on a weekly basis.

The practice has also delivered the flu vaccination programme alongside the COVID booster roll out, vaccinating 94% of residents and extending the offer to care home staff during visits.
