Gynaecology Services - Royal Oldham

Gynaecology is the medical practice that deals with the health of the female reproductive system, such as the vagina, ovaries and breasts.

Our team of gynaecologists at The Royal Oldham Hospital diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions that affect only women; from pelvic pain and period problems through to more serious conditions like endometriosis, ovarian cysts and ovarian cancer. We also treat fertility conditions, menopause and early pregnancy symptoms as well as performing hysterectomy surgery.

The gynaecology service at The Royal Oldham Hospital provides emergency and elective care to women in Oldham, Bury and Rochdale.

We specialise in diagnostic and treatment endoscopy (performing colposcopy, hysteroscopy, and treatment where possible for abnormalities on the same day). These services are on both Oldham and Fairfield sites to enable your care to be closer to home.

We have emergency inpatient beds at Oldham for women suffering early pregnancy loss, either as ectopic pregnancies or miscarriage. We provide specialist bereavement care for these women and in reach to them for subsequent pregnancies to provide reassurance and support.

We also have a Gynaecology assessment unit and an early pregnancy unit which deliver care to women under 16 weeks gestation as well as supporting women through non pregnancy related referrals.

We have Gynaecology Macmillan specialist nurses who support women through diagnostic procedures, treatment planning and end of life care where appropriate.

We also have an elective surgical team who can deliver these services at Oldham and Bury, and our Outpatients departments provide medical and nurse led follow up clinics to ensure good recovery and reduction in symptoms.

If you are experiencing any symptoms during your pregnancy and you'd like some advice, please contact our gynaecology team. You can contact the team by calling the number on the right.
