Physiotherapy - Transition from Paediatric Physio to Community Adults Physio

Managing your equipment

When you/your child moves from Paediatric Physio to Adult Community Services, it is the family's responsibility to continue to maintain the safety of their equipment. This includes standing frames and/or walking aids.

It is recommended that before every use of your equipment, the following safety checks are completed:

  • Ensure all adjustment knobs and bolts are in place and secure
  • Check all upholstery for signs of wear and tear
  • Check all castors are moving freely and lock securely
  • Check all velcro strips and brush fluff to ensure straps are firmly secure

It is also recommended that a more in-depth safety check is completed every 6 months. Please see the checklist on the next page for this.

Servicing

It is recommended that all equipment is serviced yearly. This can be arranged directly with the equipment company.

Damage/Repairs

If you need a repair of your equipment, please contact the specific equipment company and do not continue to use.

If you have any concerns over the equipment, please seek advice from the Community Adult Physiotherapy service/equipment company. Information available on the back of this leaflet.
