Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) - Fairfield Hospital [Bury]

The department of Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) sits within our Bury Care Organisation and spans across three hospital sites, Fairfield General Hospital, North Manchester General Hospital and the Royal Oldham Hospital.  

The established service with a team of  eight experienced Consultant Surgeons offers  adults and children with conditions affecting the ear, nose and throat diagnostic and treatments  It also specialises in early diagnosis and treatment for malignant diseases of the head and neck with expertise in the treatment of thyroid and parathyroid conditions. 

The ENT service is actively supported by the speech and language therapists, laboratory, radiology  and audiology departments. 

The ENT Service is provided Monday to Friday with a 24/7 emergency service.

  • Diagnostic and treatments for conditions affecting ears, nose/ sinuses and throat 

  • Airway Surgery to improve nasal breathing  

  • Bone Anchored Hearing Aids 

  • Head and Neck Oncology 

  • Rhinology – deals with diseases of the nose 

  • Treatment of Thyroid and Parathyroid conditions 

The ENT team of experts are looking forward to offering their professional expertise to patients.   

Patients referred from their GP will receive a telephone appointment for an initial diagnosis and treatment plan. Patients may be invited to Outpatient clinic appointments on our three hospital sites.  Offers of appointments will be by letter with a no reply text reminder service. 

Where surgery is required this will be at Fairfield General Hospital as a day case or inpatient with specialist theatre and nursing teams looking after you.   

Referrals is via ERS and normal routes.
