Ear Nose and Throat (ENT) - Royal Oldham, Fairfield Hospital [Bury]

The service performs our outpatient activity at Fairfield General Hospital and The Royal Oldham, there's also a service at North Manchester General which is managaed by Manchester University Foundation Trust. (MFT)

The ENT Service is a large Cancer Speciality which holds TWW clinics weekly across the Bury and Oldham, we also hold weekly peripheral MDT Clinics at North Manchester General Hospital alongside our Max Fax and Oncology Colleagues. Which cover the locality’s that we provide services for. In addition, any of our Major Cancer cases are referred over to MFT to be operated on by our Cancer Lead Clinician Mr Alex Bowen.

The service operates both day cases and inpatients at Fairfield which is co-ordinated through both Ward 12 and ward 3. Ward 12 has a compliment of Multi-Disciplinary Team staff, including Allied Heath Professionals, pharmacists, doctors, and nursing staff.

Our workforce consists of 10 Consultants as well as 4 Middle Grade/ Speciality Doctors, alongside 4 rotational Speciality Registrars. We also have a compliment of doctors employed via the Master of Surgery programme co-ordinated by the WWL NHS Trust.

The ENT Service also offers a 7 day a week emergency service across the Bury, Rochdale,Oldham and North Manchester localities.

This consists of six emergency clinics held at Bury and one biweekly clinic at Royal Oldham.

These services can be accessed through a patients GP, A&E, ward referrals and are co-ordinated through our senior house officers on call.

Please bring your letter with you when you arrive if you are attending outpatients. 

Any issues can be discussed with the reception staff and the surgical teams on the day.

You will meet with a member of the surgical team to discuss your issues and a management plan will then be created for you.

Referral by GP

The service works closely with Salford Care Organisation (SCO), in relation to the ENT service at Salford Royal.
