Winter Reaching Out Event brings warmth and support to Rochdale community

11 December 2025

Colleagues from across Rochdale hosted a Winter Reaching Out event that attracted more than 140 residents in need from the local area. The event took place at Rochdale Infirmary and provided essential health and social care services, warm clothing, and festive cheer.

Jackie Heatley, assistant director of nursing at Rochdale Infirmary, said: “It was great to welcome so many people and see them benefitting from the advice and support being offered. I am overwhelmed and proud every time by the generosity, kind donations, and support from our teams in Rochdale and across the system.

“It is heartwarming to see how committed our colleagues are to making sure the most vulnerable members of our community are provided for.”

Attendees enjoyed hot meals, flu vaccinations, podiatry and tissue viability services, haircuts, and advice from local support teams including the alcohol care team, foodbank, and the carers hub.

Community partners such as RHA Homeless Alliance, Living Well, and Andy’s Man Club offered additional guidance, while generous donations included over 400 quilts from Comfy Quilts and household goods from Deeplish Community Centre.

Free essentials such as toiletries, outdoor clothes, and winter woollies were also distributed. The evening was rounded off with entertainment from the Rochdale choir and a special visit from Father Christmas.
